The NEC season ends: Aho 6th, Heikkinen 8th and Laine 12th in the final standings - Kausi päätökseen, Aho NEC - sarjan kuudes, Heikkinen kahdeksas ja Laine 12

The Formula Renault NEC Series 2009 ended with the round in Spa on 3–4 October. The Koiranen Bros drivers achieved an average overall result with Daniel Aho finishing sixth, Toomas Heikkinen eighth and Jesse Laine twelfth in the standings. Jukka Honkavuori, the Finnish FCR Champion, managed to get 23 points with his starts in the Alastaro round, reaching 24th place in the NEC.

The top three drivers in the NEC were Felix Da Costa (361 pts), Kevin Magnussen (278 pts) and Marco Sörensen (232 pts). The last round of the season had two race starts, as usual, and the first was won by Da Costa, with Magnussen and Alex De Jong taking second and third place respectively. Of the Koiranen drivers, Heikkinen finished sixth, Laine eleventh, and Aho – who suffered from engine trouble – fourteenth. In the second race the top trio was Sörensen – Da Costa – Magnussen. Koiranen’s Heikkinen was again sixth, Aho improved and was now eighth, and Laine was eleventh.

With the season finished, it’s time to start negotiating next year’s driver contracts. None of the current Koiranen drivers have officially announced that they will continue in the team, but, on the other hand, none have said they will leave it. Quite a number of prospective drivers are also in line for the team and for testing during the final months of the year.

 

Formula Renaultien NEC-sarja päättyi kauden 2009 osalta 3.-4.10. ajettuun Span osakilpailuun.

Koiranen brosin kuljettajat ylsivät keskinkertaiseen tulokseen Daniel Ahon ollessa kokonaispisteissä kuudes, Toomas Heikkinen kahdeksas, Jesse Laine kahdestoista ja ylsipä luokan Suomen mestari Jukka Honkavuorikin Alastaron osakilpailustarteillaan NEC-pisteille sijoittuen 23 pisteellään 24. tilalle.

Kärkikolmikon sarjassa muodostivat Felix Da Costa(361p.), Kevin Magnussen (278p.) sekä Marco Sörensen(232p.) .

Kauden viimeisessä osakilpailussa ajettiin totuttuun tapaan kaksi kilpailulähtöä, joista ensimmäisen voitti Da Costa Magnussenin kiirehtiessä toiseksi. Kolmanneksi sujutteli Alex DeJong. Koiranen brosin kuljettajista Heikkinen löytyy kuudennelta sijalta, Laine 11. sijalta ja koneongelmista kärsinyt Aho 14. sijalta.Toisessa kilpailussa kärkikolmikkona Sörensen - Da Costa – Magnussen. Koirasen kuskeista Heikkinen jälleen kuudes, nyt Aho kahdeksas ja Laine yhdestoista.

Kauden päätyttyä alkavat neuvottelut ensi vuoden kuljettajien sopimuksista. Nykyisistä kukaan ei ole virallisesti ilmoittanut jatkavansa teamissa, mutta toisaalta kukaan ei ole myöskään ilmoittanut jättävänsä teamia. Uusia kuljettajia on myöskin lukuisa joukko ehdolla mukaan sekä testaamaan loppuvuoden aikana.
